Can Stress Affect Blood Glucose Levels?

Stress may offset your blood sugar levels.

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. But you need a proper dose adjustment and that can be only done by your treating physician since multiple factors need to be simultaneously kept in consideration and the effects need proper monitoring. As such, a combination of a long acting insulin backed by multiple dose of short acting insulins is ideal for you.
Please note that a higher than required dose of insulin can even create a life risk and hence dose modulation on your own is not recommended.
Regular morning walk and exercise is a must. Proper dietary regimen is also very important.
Let me know if I could be of further help.

I think high glucose is in response to possible virus. I understand about exercise, and walk a lot, but too dizzy and nauseous to do today. Had a flu shot weeks ago , but maybe exposed to virus. I take Lantus, and take and adjust Humulin at meals . I am on a diet under doctor care and lost 22 lbs in last 6 mos. am 5'5 , 141 lbs. If still having these symptoms will contact Doctor Monday.
Lantus and Humulin are the right insulins for you.

Thanks for writing back. I would not be concerned about a temperature of 98°F and would not really consider it a low temperature. A viral infection does not usually cause low body temperatures. Rather, a low thyroid level is more likely to be associated with a decreased body temperature. You may get your thyroid profile checked.
You need to get your blood HbA1c level checked. An elevated level will actually indicate the mean level of control of blood sugar over the last 3 months. Based on that dose titration of insulin can be done. Uncontrolled blood sugar levels are likely to be the cause behind your weight loss.
Lantus and Humulin are the right insulins for you. Dose adjustment is necessary.

Hope that you would soon feel totally fine.

Thanks again for writing back. The flu vaccine provides protection for one flu season. However, it takes about 21 days to kick off. If you get a flu infection within this time span, it is more likely to be just another episode of cough and cold. Mild symptoms due to the vaccine itself are quite unlikely.
I do not have anything specific to mention. Let me know if you have any further queries.
