Brief Answer:
not known causes

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Diabetes can be classified mainly as type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is autoimmune, this means that it is due to the immune system of the body destroying the pancreas.

At this time stress and exposure to gases are not known causes.

The risk factors for development of type 1 diabetes are: (1) the presence of other autoimmune diseases

(2)older mother

(3)higher birth weight

(4)viral infection- there are some viruses that have been associated with type 1 diabetes, enteroviruses are the most likely cause

(5)dietary cause-dietary gluten, early exposure to cow's milk

(6)low levels of vitamin d

(7)hygiene hypothesis - because of the extreme clean environment in some areas, the part of the immune system that responds to bacteria is underdeveloped and abnormalities develop in the immune response , increasing the risk of development of allergies and autoimmune diseases.

(8)father with type 1 diabetes

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
