Brief Answer:
yes anxiety can cause mottled skin

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
When you are anxious your sympathetic nervous system is activated in the "fight or flight" mode. When this happens your blood vessels constrict and this causes the mottled skin that occurs in some people when they are anxious. It is not dangerous but can be uncomfortable.
There is no real way to prevent this except by treating the anxiety. There are many ways to treat anxiety including medications and therapy. Exercise, meditation, yoga and engaging in hobbies can also be helpful. It depends upon the severity of the anxiety what might work best for you. Please see a doctor if the anxiety is severe or persistant.
I hope you are feeling better soon,
Dr. Robinson
