Question: Can taking Warfarin for blood clots cause moucus in urine? My husband is being treated for bladder infections with first Augmentin, and then Omoxicillan - which ran out 4 days ago. Urine is back to being Cloudy. He is 81 years old, and fell and broke his hip on 1/28/14. Is home healing nicely, but plagued with the cloudy urine. Also on oxygen for COPD..

Brief Answer: No, warfarin does not cause mucus in urine Detailed Answer: Hi, thanks for using HCM. I went through your query and understood your concerns. Warfarin is not related to urinary tract infection. Cloudy urine and intake of warfarin is just co incidental . Most common cause for cloudy urine is urinary tract infection. Urine test helps to confirm condition. As he is already received 2 types of antibiotic, organism causing UTI , may be not responding to particular antibiotic. Urine culture and sensitivity test is required to find out antibiotic sensitivity to choose proper antibiotic and antibiotic need to be taken for minimum 10 days for complete treatment. At the end of treatment repeat urine test is necessary to confirm cure of infection. If he is getting repeated infection after complete treatment needs to evaluated for cause like renal stones etc. Let him take more water and lime juice , which helps to clear organism from tract.
