Can Testosterone Received Through Therapy Pass On To Another Through Intercourse?
Question: My husband is receiving testosterone therapy. How much of that testosterone passes to me through sequel intercourse. Can it cause birth defects if I am pregnant and having intercourse with him during the same time period that he is undergoing testosterone therapy
Brief Answer:
depends upon the type of therapy he is taking
Detailed Answer:
If your husband is on testosterone injections this will not have an effect on you or future pregnancies. If he is using a gel type of testosterone, it is very important that you not come in contact with this. It is dangerous for women and chiildren to be exposed to the gel. If he is using the gel you need to be very careful for that not to be exposed to your skin. See the warnings on this website for androgel a common testosterone gel used in men.

Are you certain that none of the testosterone passes to me through the semen?
He is receiving injections. Not using gel
He is receiving injections. Not using gel
Brief Answer:
Yes, I am certain
Detailed Answer:
Hello, It can only get into your system if you come in contact with the gel and it gets absorbed through your skin. If he is getting injections, then you are very safe. He needs to have his levels monitored, but you are safe if he is just getting injections.
