Can The Scanning For Down Syndrome Be Repeated At 23 Weeks Of Pregnancy?

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Feb 2015
Question: i m 23 week pregrant. in my 19 week i have given blood sample for triple test for down syndrome. i was told i will get the result during my next counselling. yesterday i went to the hospital and took the report. after going through it i found that due to hospital negligence the report had no result. it was written that due to incomplete data they could not assess the risk factor. my problem is that now how will i come to know about the same. My NT scan at 12 week had normal result 1.2

my problem is that
1. What should i do.
2. Now should i repeat the test at 23 week.
3. what can be the incomplete data. i had given the form along with recent sonography zerox

Kindly do help be. I m getting paranoid thinking about if and then

Brief Answer:
Ask them to fill incomplete data

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I read your query and I understand your concerns about combined risk for down's syndrome.

Following is my reply:

1) 1.2 means low risk. This is good news.

2) I dont understand what is meant by incomplete data. Probably hospital has not sent the scan report to estimate combined risk.

3) Please see doctor incharge and ask them to send the data which is incomplete ( probably scan report was not sent for correlation with blood test). Sometimes your history sheet might be n=missing which hey want.

4) They should be able to generate report after filling incomplete data.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Thank you sir

The hospital staff called me and told that some parameters regarding my personal information and history was missing. they have given the data regarding the same and i will get my report in next week. But again they have made one mistake. i dont know how but they have reported my age 32 when i am 33. will if affect my triple test results. i am fed up with the hospital management.

Sir pls guide me
1. Will one year gap in age affect my Triple test result
2. How much revelant is Tripple test
3. My anamoly scan at 20 weeks is perfectl normal.

Sir, i am to stressed out. Can i say that everything is fine with the baby on basis of anamoly scan

Brief Answer:
Dont worry

Detailed Answer:
Hello

This is what i told you that thye might have missed part of history. NOw everything seems right.

32 or 33 years wont make a difference. BUt still i would like you to call them and tell about 33. They can still change so that no doubt remains in mind.

One year gap wont affect result much.

Triple test with scan report is very much confirmatory of no possibility of down's syndrome.

NT scan is different from anomaly scan. Down's syndrome best done with NT scan and not with anomaly scan.

Thank you Sir

I told them to change the age. but they have send the details and wont be able to change as the lab doing the test is a different one. so guess i have to have the report with 32 year age only.

But one thing for sure. i m going to change the hospital.
