I added 15mg of flurazepam to this and it helps a bit. addind 1 mg of Ativan did not help at all. should I stop taking the Ativan and go to 30 flurazepam. I take off the patch 2 3 hours before I go to bed

Brief Answer:
If ativan does not help, then you may stop it!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these difficulties you have sleeping to your satisfaction. I have reviewed your medications and this is really huge for your condition. If clearly ativan is not of any additional help to you, I will recommend that you stop it. However, 15mg of flurazepam is the maximum recommended dose and I will not recommend that you increase this dosage.

Beside drugs, lifestyle modifications can help with sleeping difficulties. It takes some conscious efforts to achieve this. I will recommend following:
1. Regular physical exercise, healthy diet and enough fruits and vegetables. if you take coffee or caffeinated products, please stop doing so. Also, alcohol should be avoided.
2. Avoid daytime naps. Go to bed as late as possible. Also, use the bed only for sleeping and sex.
3. Turn off all distractions before going to bed. Nothing such as music, lights, TV, etc should be on when you get into bed as they cause difficulties falling asleep and staying asleep.
4. Take a warm water bath just before going to bed.

I know getting off smoking after such a longtime is difficult. I know it can be very difficult and the temptation to return to this attitude is high. I encourage you to do all and resist any attempts going back.

I hope this addresses your query fully. I wish you well and thank you so much for using our services. feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
