Can Throat Infection Cause High Fever?

Question: My son of 20months old, had fever of 104 F yesterday, Doctor advised to give meftol every 8 hrs. After giving the fever has come down. But today evening it got increased to 104 F. Doctor is saying it could be throt infection and advised to have recofast in addition to meftol. My question is does throat infection can cause fever of 104F? and is the treatment is going in right direction?

Brief Answer: relax. Detailed Answer: Hi. Thanks for your query. I understand your concern. Relax,there is nothing to worry. Cause of fever is mostly viral infection which takes few days to settle. Continue with medication as advised. Record temperature every 6 hourly and in case fever is above 100 you can give acetamimophen as per dosage 15mg/kg body weight In case fever is above 102 give meftal. Do tepid sponging. Give plenty of fluids and soft bland diet so as to maintain hydration and nutrition. In case fever continues to be on higher side get him re evaluated by pediatrician to see for any focus of infection. Hope I have answered your query. Let me kmow if you have any further query.
