Can Vaginal Warts Result In Herpes?
unlikely that it was present for so many years and got unnoticed
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query. I understand your concerns.
Herpes virus type 2 with genital infection is usually persistent and can't be eradicated once it has developed. With treatment it subsides but in more than 80% cases recur again. Suppressive continuous therapy with antivirals can prevent recurrences though the virus stays in the body. This can also prevent transmission to partner to some extent.
So though we can't say for sure from where she got this disease, it is unlikely that it was present for 22 years and she did not have any recurrences in between nor did she infect you (assuming that she was not on continuous antivirals).
Hope this helps.
Regards
not from warts
Detailed Answer:
genital warts are caused by human papillomavirus (HPV), not HSV. SO they are not related.
