Can We Continue Pregnancy Inspite Of Having Brain TB?
Question: Hello
I have been married since feb 2014. My wife had 3 seizures one after another on 23 may 2014. We took her to hospital n came to know that she has brain TB and a liaison in brain. With this we also came to know she was 2-3 weeks pregnant. My question is 1. Should we keep the baby or abort it. 2. Does this TB or its medicine harmful for the baby. 3. Will she recover completely or there will be after effects of that. 4. Some doc told me it is an old disease as brain tb starts somewhere else in body. We are so worried pls help.

Brief Answer:
TB
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I read your query and I understand your concerns.
Following is my reply:
1) If she has received full course of treatment she will recover.
2) The possibilities of future attacks exist. This depends on her immunity and further activation of lesion.
3) These drugs are dangerous and there is chance of baby getting affected. You can continue pregnancy but with frequent ultrasound scans from experts to detect abnormalities and receive adequate care.
4) The lesion would have started somewhere else and probably in lungs. But X ray cannot be taken now as she is pregnant.
Let me know if you have anymore questions.
