Can We Give Chericof My Son Who Is 5 Years Old Is Having Cough ?
Question: My son who is 5 years old is having cough from last 3 weeks, initially we started giving him warm water (day 1 to day5) and when that didn't helped we gave him "Chericof"(which was recommended to us previously by pediatrician about a year ago) for a week and that too didn't helped as he is still coughing
He has runny nose , occassional sneezing and when he coughs we can feel he have phlegm in his chest.
Ridhaan coughs more during night as compared to during the daytime.

Based on the history and you are telling it's phlegm associated cough, it looks he has chest congestion and would need a course of antibiotics, usually I prescribe Syr. Cefixime based on the child's weight in my practice, but this needs a prescription and a examination by a doctor to oscultate chest and confirm the congestion. Continue Chericof, give him honey just before going to bed, and ask him to gargle with warm water before going to bed and in the morning, make him sleep in reclining position, than lying straight, apply any balm like Vicks for chest and neck while going bed.
If still he's not feeling comfortable kindly visit physician on person and Start on antibiotics.
