Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Please give additional information for me to assist you better:
What is the Size?
Where is the exact location?
Any tenderness that is pain on pressure?
Also watch/check neck for such lumps.
Is the skin over free or has a black spot/punctum?
Any other information please.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your feedback.
As per the history you have provided the commonest causes I can think about are as follows:
* Sebaceous cyst: after mild inflammation this can grow suddenly to become noticeable and tender too. Many a times a very small black spot may be seen as punctum. Usually moves a bit if not infected and then becoming adherent to the surrounding tissues.
* Lipoma: always painless, easily moves around, non-tender. Grows very slowly and incidentally noted.
* Fibroadenoma in females: Freely XXXXXXX painless and non-tender.
* Lymph nodes are not known to occur over rib cage.
Photo not yet attached with this query. Please reattach in JPEG format.
This can be confirmed by the following ways:
* Clinical examination by a Doctor, preferably a General Surgeon.
Ultrasound helps confirmation.
* FNAC if advised by a Radiologist.
I hope this answer helps you.
Please give feedback.
