Brief Answer:
Unnoticed trichomoniasis

Detailed Answer:
Hi...
Welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service.
I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX

I have gone through your query and here is my opinion.

Yes.....it is quite possible.

Trichomoniasis infection is caused by a parasitic protozoan called Trichomonas vaginalis and ONLY 30 percent of all trichomoniasis cases have symptoms.

Men are less likely to have symptomatic trichomoniasis.
Women are more likely to display symptoms like genital swelling, redness, bleeding and discharge with a typical odour.
Men rarely show symptoms and often come to know about it once their partners have symptoms and they are tested for it

An untreated trichomoniasis infection can last for several years and even decades.

Another cause of unknown trich besides absent symptoms is that most STD screenings do not include test for trichomoniasis.

Hope that I have answered your query.

Stay healthy.
Regards.
