Question: Can you please help me out of pain and opioid pain medicine withdrawal symptoms (from medication taken as prescribed) after extensive surgeries? Suboxone does NOT help. it made physical withdrawal symptoms worse and pain much worse. I have tried to taper off the pain meds (methadone 40mgs twice daiy and oxycodone 15mgs every 4-6 hours for breakthrough pain. The doctors say they cannot give me anything more for pain because I am no longer covered by insurance and am not having surgery again but I need it as I have a partially amputated, deformed foot with drifting syndrome. I have phantom pains extremely bad. I was mis-diagnosed with gout when I actually had cellulitis, developed necrotizing faciitis , then osteomylitis, sepsis, 22 days in ICU, almost died, 8 surgeries over 3 years, attempted but failed bone grafts with fixator and metal plates. This all failed and ended with amputation of great toe, first metatarsal, the joint that connects them and all tendons and ligaments are now gone. I now suffer from severe back pain as well. I already had pretty bad scoliosis and ruptured discs at c5, c6, and c7 before the incident with my foot and all the surgeries. I was on crutches for three years and I think that it really messed up my back worse plus the newly unnatural gait/ balance is causing me severe back pain too, along with the pain of my foot. I feel like my whole life has changed for the worst and I feel as if I am in a painful prison I am now recognizing as my body. Please help!!!

I started taking the opioid medication in ICU and they coninued with the surgeries until about a month ago until I was abruptly stopped after the last surgery and I had to go to a methadone clinic bc the wd;s were so bad. I am cirrently taking the methadone but am still experiencing terrible pain. I ell the methadone doctors but they say that they can only treat dependance and not pain. I feel completely stuck. I feel like I am being treated as if I were a drug addict but I'm not. I am mangeled from malpractice and left holding the bag with nowhere to turn.
