Question: Can you please interpret these images for me? The radiologist was very vague on the report summary. Did this test assess fibrosis or percentage of fat in liver? Can you please provide a detailed assessment of the results pertaining to the liver in layman terms?

Hi,

MRI can diagnose fatty liver, fibrosis and cirrhosis.

As per your report, you have only fatty liver and not fibrosis or cirrhosis of liver.

In fatty liver, there is fat deposition in the liver.
It can be simple fatty liver in which the liver panel would be normal or a steatohepatitis in which the fatty liver is associated with inflammation bof liver as evidenced by elevated liver enzymes in liver panel.

If left untreated this may lead to liver fibrosis and cirrhosis (the last stage).

As per the MRI report, you have only fatty liver.

Some of the causes of fatty liver are obesity, diabetes. high cholesterol and alcohol in take
Treating the risk factor will resolve the fatty liver.

Does the report indicate the percentage of fat in liver or only that there is fat? The report says "severe." Does this mean a certain percentage of my liver is fatty?
