Can You Suggest Medicine For Hot Flash And Dizziness?

Posted on Wed, 19 Jun 2024
Question: Hello,
I am having trouble with somewhat random vomiting. If anything touches my neck or I put pressure near my collar bone, I will vomit. Yesterday I was sitting up but my upper back wasn’t supported comfortably and that triggered vomiting. This has been going on for over a year but was more related to if I exerted myself mildly I would get hot and then vomit. A couple weeks ago it turned into a major hot flash and dizziness so bad that I had to lie down on the floor, couldn’t make it to mg bed 10 ft away. I had my son get me some frozen veggies and put under the back of my neck and as soon as I did that I cooled off and it passed. I need to find out what this is, but can’t afford to go to multiple specialists, hence why I need some guidance please.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

The symptoms you are describing could be caused by a number of different things, including:

* **Meniere's disease:** This is a disorder of the inner ear that can cause dizziness, hearing loss, and tinnitus (ringing in the ears).
* **Vestibular migraine:** This is a type of migraine that affects the vestibular system, which is responsible for balance and coordination.
* **Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS):** This is a condition that affects the autonomic nervous system, which controls things like heart rate, blood pressure, and sweating. People with POTS often experience dizziness and nausea when they stand up quickly.
* **Cervical vertigo:** This is a condition that is caused by pressure on the nerves in the neck. It can cause dizziness, nausea, and headaches.

If you are concerned about your symptoms, it is important to see a doctor physically, who can examine you. Because diagnosis of all condition is done by physical examination and further tests, if needed after examination. .

In the meantime, there are a few things you can do to help relieve your symptoms:

* Avoid activities that trigger your symptoms.
* Get plenty of rest.
* Drink plenty of fluids.
* Take over-the-counter medications for nausea and dizziness.
* See a physical therapist to help improve your neck pain.

Thank you, but it isn’t any of those things. Could a thyroid nodule cause it?
