Question: Cancer - Non Hodgkins Lymphoma
My brother, 74, is on his second chemo treatment for Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. He is suddenly having terrible hip pain. He thinks he broke his hip but doesn't remember anything happening that would have caused this. Are there effects of chemo that would bring extreme pain to his hip?

avascular necrosis of femur head is a striking possibility to be ruled out.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.
I have read your query and here is my advise.

* As per my clinical experience, there is a significant entity as avascular necrosis of
femur head which can be presented in ileu of cancer chemotherapy.
which represents with significant hip pain despite of no apparent injury or else.

* It is advisable to consult his oncologist immediately and get evaluated for the
underlying cause of the same and further management.

Wish him best health.
