Child Passing Mucus In Bowel Movement. Is There Any Effective Medicine For Cure?

Question: 4 year-old boy has a liquid transparent or mucus rectal discharge. It has been happening periodically for a year or more, but now intensified. Doctor said it was a virus and will go away, but it comes back every week or two and then all is fine for a couple of days. Now it would not stop.

Does he suffer from loose stools or pain abdomen?
Has there been any change in his diet since a year?

Is growth in the boy optimum to his age?
