Child Passing Mucus In Bowel Movement. Is There Any Effective Medicine For Cure?

Question: 4 year-old boy has a liquid transparent or mucus rectal discharge. It has been happening periodically for a year or more, but now intensified. Doctor said it was a virus and will go away, but it comes back every week or two and then all is fine for a couple of days. Now it would not stop.
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
I would like to know some more details on your son's condition to understand better and provide you specific advice.
Is the discharge blood stained anytime?
Does he suffer from loose stools or pain abdomen?
Has there been any change in his diet since a year?
Has he been on any medications for the same? If yes, kindly mention the names and dosage of the medications.
Is growth in the boy optimum to his age?
Waiting for your response,
