Could An Endoscopy Cause Breathlessness While Experiencing Something Stuck In The Throat Feeling, Constipation, Post Nasal Drip And Belching?
Question: I had something stuck in the throat feeling . And after PPIS I developed constipation , post nasal drip and belching . Underwent an endoscopy , and developed a shortness of breath feeling the next day . Had a x Ray , liver function test , colonoscopy , CT abdomen all showed a normal report . Did endoscopy cause the shortness of breath ?
Brief Answer:
throat feeling seems acid reflux related.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have read your query thoroughly.
* Stuck feeling in the throat is related to reflux acid induced irritation of mucosa.
* Shortness of breath seems anxiety related more likely and anesthesia related
less likely.
Kindly provide further details so that I can answer your query completely.
1. Currently have you any problem in swallowing ?
2. Give bowel movements details.
3. How many days have passed after endoscopy ?
4. What is current breathing status ?
5. Are you having normal sleep pattern ?
Awaiting for your response.
Regards.

Thanks for answering . Your answers
1)no difficulty swallowing
2) erratic bowel movements. 2 days off PPIs self . Bowel movements getting normal . Little delay
3) a month since endoscopy

5) can't get a good sleep . Waking up very often
Also , I lost a lot of weight and appetite is low

Doc ,
I'm still having breathing issues and a little delay in motility with slightly hardened stool , also I can taste something salty/sour when I clear my throat , the belching has decreased since I'm off PPIs but when I burp I can still vividly taste the contents of my stomach . If it is reflux related should I consider surgery , I just want the breathing to feel better and have a good appetite .

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Welcome for follow up.
* Breathing issues will best be handled with deep breathing exercises, it will settle
with time.
* Add intake of bulk forming laxative as ispaghula husk or psyllium fiber for hard
stools, that will help in sour throat as well.
* Surgery is not a need at this point even though it is partly related to reflux.
Regards.
