Could Bump On Penis Be A Sign Of STD Contraction?

default
Posted on Fri, 6 Feb 2015
Question: I have a small single round bump on my penile shaft. I have had unprotected sex with someone who may have another partner within the past month. I have not been to a doctor yet but am concerned and wondering if it could be an STD.

Brief Answer:
Genital wart or Molluscum Contagiosum are the possibilities.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
You had not mentioned anything about pain in the bump. If there is pain it could be a furuncle, a non std pus collection due to bacterial infection.

If it is painless STD could be possibilities.
As you mentioned a single bump, Genital Herpes is unlikely, as it manifests usually as grouped vesicles.
Genital warts or Molluscum contagiosum are the other possibilities. They are caused by different virus.
Consult your Physician or Dermatologist. He/she will fix the diagnosis after a careful examination treat the same.
If you could upload a picture of the lesion, I may be able to tell more. Anyhow personal examination by a Physician is more appropriate.

In early stages furunculsis may not be so painful.

Your picture seems to be an early furuncle.
Second possibility is Herpes infection.
Genital warts and Molloscum ruled out by the appearance.
Your Dermatologist will fix the diagnosis after examination and investigations a and easily cure the same.
