Question: hello Dr.
I am 32 years old.i had recently b12 and d vitamin defeciency. And went for full body check up. In ultra sound scan it mentioned grade 1 fatty liver & kidneys size normal with increased cortical pattern and collecting sustem appear normal. All by blood reports are normal. My doctor said no need to worry about my kidneys.
Creatinine is (0.9 mg/dl)
Clear urine samples(No protein trace)
Blood Urea (16 mg/dl)
Random blood sugar (109)
Sgot/Ast (19)
BP (120 /80 & 130 /83) as per those two days readings.
B12 (130)
D vitamin (15)

But after My tests....in the evening I had a little alcohol and then after 1.5 hrs I took 2 tylenol tablets (500 mg each) as a normal dose for body pains and head ache. But I never used any pain killers and tylenol before. Next day I read in Google that it will cause kidney damage. I am extremely worries now if I damaged my kidneys due my mistake which I never did. This happened 2 months back.

So kindly advice if I need to test again. Does my mistake cause any damage to kidney. I am keep worrying and not even getting sleep for my mistake since I am too health conscious.

Brief Answer:
Dont worry

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Tylenol is acetaminophen and is safe for the kidneys. So first you should remove this doubt from your mind COMPLETELY. IT IS SAFE. So you have not done anything wrong in taking it.

Now the second question is that do you have a kidney disease- Your serum creatinine is normal ultrasound size of kidney are normal. But spot urine protein creatinine ratio and urine routine test are not available. you can do these to be sure that your kidneys are normal.

But question is why you should suspect that you have kidney disease. Most common feature of kidney disease is swelling of legs and high Bp. Do you have any of these?

Best wishes

hello Doctor.

Thank you for review.

Actually i had low vitamin D and B12 issues first time during february since i stay in cold country and also i am vegetarian.

Due to that i had weakness for 3 weeks and also i got flue for 4 days due to high viral season here in sweden. For that i used Paracetamol for 5 days.

Later week i went for full body routine checkup. Where my Urine reports are normal ...no protien trace or any abnormalities found. Creatinine is 0.9 & urea is 17 mg/dl.
But in health package they did abdomin scanning. They mentioned kidneys are normal in size, with increased cortical echo pattern. And collecting system appear normal.Urinary Bladder Normal.

And i do not have Blood Pressure (120 /80 as per that day)
And do not have diabetes ( Random blood suger is 109).

My Physician did not mentioned any thing about "with increased cortical echo pattern" and gave only medication for B12 and D Vitamin. So i just though of clarifying if i have any problem or is it a temporary condition.

Kindly advise. Thank You...!

Best Regards

Brief Answer:
Take b12 and vitd tablets

Detailed Answer:
increase echos of kidney can be because of acute involvement with infection or with chronic damage. but as all other tests are normal only way is to be vigilant. repeat creatinine test and urine routine and spot urine protein CREATININE ratio after 1 month

best wishes
