Could Occasional Drinking And Medicines Lead To Chronic Kidney Disease?
Question: Hello. I'm a little worried about my kidney function. My last lab results (april 2018) were a eFGR of 92 , a creatnine of.96, a potassium of 4.0, and an albium of 4.4. In 2017, my results were a eGFR of 102, a creatnine of. 88, a potassium of 4.7, and an albium of 4.7. I didn't test in 2016.In 2015, my eGFR was 101, a creatnine of.91, a potassium of 4 2, and an albium of 4.6. The meds I have been taking since 2015 are doxazosin mesylate 8mg, clonazepam 1mg, risperidone 1mg, lisinopril 2.5 mg, and venlafaxine 75mg. I Also drank on occsssions during this time, but not everyday. I stopped drinking. Is my kidney now in the process of chronic kidney disease because of the meds and the occassional drinking? Is it going on a downward spiral? are the meds affecting my kidneys? thank you

thank you. I'm 49 , I'm a male. should I be concerned then? my doctor didn't say anything about an ultrasound. will the meds hurt me?

In all cases it's advisable to get an ultrasound abdomen and complete urinary examination for arriving at a reasonable conclusion.
Long-term usage of psychotropic medications ( clonazepam, venlafaxine, Doxazocin and Risperidone can cause renal issues in few percentage of people).
Lisinopril is however protective.
