Question: I ve had severe groin , upper thigh pain. that started in my hip and moved down to my groin. Its not related to a sports injury, however I am a nurse who stands on her feet for approx. 10 to 12 hours a day. I use to box and kick box but had to stop about 3 years ago due to hip pain. I do have psoriasis and arthritis and At 59 years old I am in full blown menopause . I have only gone approx 14 months now without a period. the pain is excruciating and I can not walk without wearing a compression hip, groin hip brace. it even hurts when I lay down. the only time it doesn't hurt is if I pick my leg up and bring my knee to my chest.?

Brief Answer:
Possible hip joint arthritis or sciatica

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

As per your symptoms, the possibility of hip joint arthritis or a compressive spine disease is very high. This require an x ray both hips and MRI scan of spine for diagnostic clarification.

Further management if any is largely based on test reports. Meanwhile, a short course of oral analgesic medications will help. Please check with your physician if he/she shares my view and if can prescribe these medications and tests to improve your symptoms.

Post your further questions if any.

Thank you.

Regards
