Brief Answer:
Not harmful if cooked
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Sprouts do provide health benefits. They contain certain enzymes which help in digestion.
But they can cause abdominal bloating as they contain complex sugars which get fermented by intestinal bacteria releasing gases which result in abdominal bloating and increased flatulence. They do not cause anything harmful.
But uncooked sprouts can get contaminated with bacteria and can cause food poisoning. So it is better to eat cooked sprouts.

So Doctor how should we avoid abdominal bloating and flatulence?
Brief Answer:
Limit the quantity
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
As I said in the earlier post, the abdominal bloating and flatulence are due to the presence of complex sugars which get fermented by the bacteria in the intestine. If you want to avoid those symptoms, you may have to either limit the quantity of sprouts you eat or avoid them.
