Could There Be A Risk Of Being Diagnosed With Cancer While Having Osteoporosis And Anemia?

default

Question: 86 year old female. Osteoporosis. Anemic. Doctors doing a CT Scan tomorrow to check for reason for anemic. She's not fatigued, no unusual pain (normal osteoporosis pain in her hip), no dizziness, no lack of appetite. She's maintained her weight perfectly year to year. Squeak in her throat brought her to the doctor.
Diagnosed Anemic through blood test. Put on iron pills and squeak went away, but Doctor said it COULD be cancer. But could Avascular Necrosis be a better diagnosis based on her symptoms? What do you think? Also, shouldn't her doctor be checking the functionality of her spleen an kidneys?

Brief Answer:
PET CT scan recommended

Detailed Answer:
Hi

After hearing your history I do not think you are having cancer

I would advise you to do a PET CT scan and not a plain CT scan as cancerous changes are detected much better in Pet CT scan.

Since there is no history of weight loss it is more a case of avascular necrosis rather than cancer.

And a doctor must examine liver and spleen as you've described the history of anemia and osteoporosis.

Let me know if I can assist you further.
