
Could U Suggest Which Is Better Either Bonison Or Gripe Water?

Question: Hello Doctor, My daughter is 1.9 years old, weight 10.9kgs. she has constipation from birth but not always. we haven't tried either bonison or gripe water till now. we used to give ajwain water slightly hot. from past couple of weeks same problem with my kid while passing stools she cries alot. can you please help? also could u suggest which is better either bonison or gripe water? I heard it gives relief.

1. Natural methods are the best to relieve constipation.
2. Constipation is a risk factor for UTI
3. Maximum milk consumption per day should not exceed 300-400ml
4. Minimum 3-4 cups of fruits and vegetables to be consumed per day

Hi... the best way to give natural fibre is only fruits.
I think even though your daughter is adamant and againist taking fruits you should somehow convince her to take the fruits because any other food you give her including fruit juices without any fibre is not going to help in constipation.
You need to restrict the dietary intake of milk to 300 ml maximum per day.
Apart from this you need to give her at least one and half litres of water to make the formed stool bulky. This will add on to the fibre in the stools from the fruits and give her a permanent relief from constipation.
