Question: Hi the patient is undergoing chemotherapy and radiation for colon cancer. Just two more radiation session are required. The patient has been experiencing pain and burning since last week Thursday as a result of the radiation. Doctor at the cancer clinic has recommended silver sulfadazine cream. This cream is not available here in Trinidad. Patient is experiencing lots of pain and burning as the burns are getting infected . Other substitutes are not available. l the burns are located in the buttocks and leg area. He has also tried aquaphor cream but no help. Could you advise what can be used to assist in the burning sensation and the infection. Thanks

If he has burning sensation and the start of a skin infection you may use Neosporin ointment also found over the counter without a prescription.
