Question: Hi doctor, I suffer from allergic rhinitis at times and constant daily PND, an ENT Specialist i consulted suggested Montek LC twice a day for 1 week usual while other doctor told to take allegra once a day daily which got me confused, i wanted to know are these medicine safe to be taken for long term, atleast once a day if not twice, because my symptoms stays fine till i take this medicine, once stopped its back to what its usual, I also took an blood total IgE test several months back, its value came about 880. So i am pretty much clueless on how to proceed my life with allergies, if you have any better medicine recommendation for long term usage, please let me know about it, thanks

Brief Answer:
Hii. Welcome to the healthcare services You are having allergic rhinitis. S

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Start fluticasone nasal spray 2 puff at bedtime for 3 month. It will decrease allergic inflammation of nose. Take saline spray like Solspre 1 puff thrice daily for 3 week. This will clear secretions from the nose. Don't take montelukast for long time. You can take it in acute episode for 2-3 days. Take proper steam inhalation through nose and mouth. Do warm saline gargle. Allergic rhinitis don't get resolved completely but it decreases or increases. So stay away from allergens like dust, household smoke, pollen grains from flowers, insects. Do yoga or nasal breathing exercises. It will help in maintaining proper mucociliary function of the nose. Change bed sheet, pillow cover thrice weekly. Take bath after coming from work. Please review if you have any queries.

Brief Answer:
You can take tab Allegra for a long duration. Allegra is Fexofenadine.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
You can take tab Allegra for a long duration.

Allegra is Fexofenadine. It has also side effects on prolonged use. So it's better you use Allegra for acute episodes.

Take spray and steam inhalation. These are the remedies for a long duration.
Allergy won't be eradicated completely. It can be decreased with the measures mentioned previously.
