DO I Need To Have Root Canal Treatment On Same Tooth ?
Question: I have been asked to have root canal treatment on the same tooth that I had done a few years ago. Is it normal to have it done a second time since I have been told there is an infection in the tooth? Will I require a local anaestheic as the tooth and the nerve should be dead in that tooth?
Brief Answer:
Yes, it is possible.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the query.
Well, re- root canal treatment can be done in teeth in which there is infection that cannot be treated with medication or some other complications leading to root canal treatment failure.
Please get a latest x ray done and upload so that I can advise you more appropriately the cause of re-treatment..
Also yes, if root canal treatment is done in an infected and painful tooth you need local anaesthesia to avoid pain.
Hope this helps..
Regards.
