Dear Doctor, I Am Experiencing A Heavy Hair Loss Since
Question: Dear Doctor, I am experiencing a heavy hair loss since 3 weeks. Having so much hair loss that i can see my scalp when i put oil. In last October I got effected by Corona and hospitalized. Used medicine like Medrol, Remidvisir, Eliquis etc. Is this hair fall due to use of medicine? I am 35 old years male. could you please suggest home remedies or shampoo to control hair loss and regrowth? please help me. Thank you, Raghav

You seem to be having Acute Telogen Effluvium which is common 1-3 months after a major illness like dengue, jaundice, malaria and the like. This type of hair loss is expected after Covid 19 pneumonia specially of the severity that requires hospitalization and has been observed in many patients of moderate to severe Coronavirus induced pneumonitis. The good thing is that acute telogen effluvium is temporary and the hair loss is expected to reverse with time however it could take 6 months to an year. You may use minoxidil 5% solution 1 ml twice daily on scalp skin.. In addition I suggest you to take an oral Biotin supplement. Besides this a balanced nutritious diet is essential to recovery from illness induced stress and resultant hair loss.
