Question: Dear Doctor!
I have a couple questions.
It started a couple years ago, when I noticed I got very "weezing" when physically active like running etc. Thought it was asthma, but no medicine helped. Following years it got worse, and I started feeling a lump in the throat. Checked it out, and the doctor said there were clear signs of acid in my throat. I do not have heartbrun though, so he talked about maybe beeing silent reflux. Now. My throat gets tight when speaking hard, inging, sneexing, running, smoking much etc. If I just shout ONCE, it tightens.
It is located around my XXXXXXX apple.
But also the muscles around the area tightens to the point of pain.
1: Can this breathing problems (mainly breathing in - - but sometimes a little out as well) be due to silent reflux?
2: I have some complications with heart arrythmia. Is there any reflux medicine that DOESNT affect that?
thanks!

Hello?
Brief Answer:
I would also check with your cardiologist..
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I went through the details provided. I see you posted the query to an ENT doctor; and I have been associated with department of ENT in my career. Hence I take this opportunity to answer on their behalf.
Based on the description, there are a few possibilities that I think should be considered.
1. As your doctor pointed out, acid reflux is the priority. And common treatment is by using a proton pump inhibitor like prilosec. And fortunately, it doesn't interfere with your cardiac condition or it's treatment.
2. As you have a preexisting heart condition, I would also consider checking with your cardiologist to know the current state of heart. I recommend it, because a few heart problem where the heart function is inadequate leads to exertional breathlessness, just like what you described.
3. Anemia, is another one in my list that could explain both the breathing difficulty as well as the tightning / choking sensation. A blood test is sufficient to check for presence of anemia.
4. Lastly, you should also check the structure and function of larynx through endoscope (direct laryngoscope) or indirect laryngoscope done by ENT surgeon.
Hope I have answered your questions. Let me know if you need clarifications.
Regards
PS: If you feel my answer isn't satisfactory, let me know. In this case, I shall pass the question on to another doctor.

Hi! Thank you for answering. I woulod - however, as you state you are not an ENT, like if you could further it to one ENT that has knowledge of the question at hand.
I have checked my heart, so that is not the reason for this type of breathnessless.
The Prilosec does have listed fast or irregular heartrate as sideeffect. Probably because of magnesium or the lack of because of using the medicine.
Thank you very much for your time, and for forwarding this to a ENT with speciality of this.
