Dear Doctor, Since Last 20 Years My Wife Is Suffering

Question: Dear Doctor,
Since last 20 years my wife is suffering with itching in palms with rashes and cuts. So many doctors have been contacted from Allopathy, homeopathy and Ayurveda.

No exact relief could be obtained but sometimes some of relief observed and any way life was continuing with itching problem.
Now, since last 3 - 4 months this problem further increased and this itching started in some other parts of body with some other symptoms like blackish skin and small dots on thighs and wests. After treatment, some benefit observed but itching could not be controlled and it is very difficult to perform daily routines. Itching in palms creates too much problems as every job to be performed by hands.

As many of doctors suggested to work with gloves and avoid soap etc. and same tried to follow but it is not possible to follow 100 % because for bath and all soap has to be used. The soap changed and Pears soap found more suitable.

Kindly consider the problem seriously and reply the medicines or any other test to be done by which this itching problem can be removed from the routes and my wife can enjoy her life.

Pl. reply to whom should I contact or test anything else. My wife is taking tab. Thyronorm 75 mg. This time doctor told that there may be problem of DRYNESS in skin due to consumption of this tablet. Pl. clarify the same.

Brief Answer:
Contact dermatitis most likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir
Thank you for asking ask a doctor service.
I have gone through your query with diligence. Most likely your wife's problem can be contact dermatitis.
It can be anything causing this. You can use hypoallergenic soaps like Cetaphil. Use XXXXXXX warm water for washing hands. You can use hydrocortisone cream if the itching is more. I would suggest taking combination of antihistamines like Levocetirizine and mast cell stabilizers like Monteleukast daily once at night.
If no improvement then you can consult Dermatologist or Allergy specialist.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks.
