Dear Sir - 61 Year Male Had History Of Increased

benign condition or prostate enlargement with multiple renal cysts.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query with attached report of ultrasound and here is my advise.
* As per my clinical experience, the renal cortical cysts involving both
kidneys are benign condition found in many instances for various reasons
as high blood pressure or else.
Prostate is showing moderate enlargement which is age related
hypertrophy of the prostate gland and found after 50 - 55 years of age in
many number of adults , but symptoms show up only when there is
compression over the urethra of prostate part obstructing the urine
outflow.
* Prognosis part consist of 2 separate entities as
@ Prostate growth slows with hormone modifications as your current
medications and over period of time it shows partial decline of size of
prostate but usually does not revert back to normal.
- Medications are of symptomatic relief to prevent night frequency of
urination or lessen the sensitivity of inadequate evacuation of urine.
Many number of cases do well with medicine for years and some cases do
require surgery of prostate with laser or scope when the symptoms do not
show up excellent response to medications.
- The condition of prostate enlargement of age related issue is non cancer
condition and does not turn into malignancy ( cancer ).
- Another issues with prostate enlargement would be recurrent urinary
tract infection when there is not sufficiently complete voiding ( which is
not in your case ).
@ Coming to renal cyst part, these are collection of fluid inside certain
spaces involving particular kidney parts.
- Cysts remain same size or gradually increase in size over a long period of
times and do not require any surgical intervention.
- Complications would be increase in size and infection in any of the cyst
causing fever or other issues affecting the kidney function.
My guidelines at this point are
- Continue current medication of prostate as per the doctor`s guidance.
- Maintain hydration with plenty of liquids ( during day time to avoid night
frequency ) to avoid secondary bacterial infection.
- Control of body weight, blood sugar, blood pressure.
- Regular exercises and health maintenance.
- Regular ultrasound evaluation every 6 months to evaluate the progress
and response to condition.
- Kindly share any blood reports if done in recent past as blood sugar,
creatinine or prostate specific antigen etc.
Hope this information will help you to understand the issue more better.
Wish you great health.
Regards.

thanks for details
please confirm in this case bilateral multiple renal cortical cysts & polycystic kidney disease are same one or different
follow up .
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome for follow up.
* The polycystic kidney disease is usually inherited case in most of the cases
which may show up at various age groups, while the multiple renal cortical
cysts is a subset of above condition.
Both show up similarly but are not equivalent conditions.
You may have bilateral multiple renal cysts without polycystic kidney
disease also in some issues.
But the management part does not differ at all in either case.
Thanks.
