Question: Dear Sir , 67 years male known case of Hypertension, Diabetes, Cholesterol, Osteomyelitis of Right leg at the age of 13 years & recent 2 d echo shows reduced LV compliance , please guide us (1)significance of reduced LV compliance (2) probable diagnosis (3) complication due to reduced LV compliance.

The echo report is showing perfectly normal pumping capacity of the heart 60-65%.
The reduced LV compliance which they have mentioned is basically diastolic dysfunction which is an age related abnormality and is seen in majority of population after a certain age group.
Until unless LVEF is alright there is nothing to worry about LV compliance (diastolic dysfunction).
Other wise in patients with coronary artery disease, with reduced LVEF along with high grade diastolic dysfunction can cause heart failure and hospitalisation, which is a potential complication.
