Dear Sir/Madam, Since A Few Months Ago, I Am Experiencing

Question: Dear Sir/Madam,

Since a few months ago, I am experiencing problems with my right ear.
It started with a knocking feeling and sound which lasted for a couple of weeks. This eventually disappeared and a few weeks later a beep appeared.
The knocking still exists, but now it only happens when I hear sound. Even if I hear sound with my other ear, which doesn't have a problem.

I went to the doctor and he performed a hearing-test. Apparently, I have no hearing loss. He said it could be caused by stress. This was a month ago. I'm just coming out of a 1-month long relaxing holiday, but my problem hasn't disappeared. In fact, the beep has become a little louder. Furthermore, when I swallow, I hear loud cracking noises, sometimes followed by a short zipper-sound.

I do not have other issues that I know of. My heartbeat and weight are normal.
As I understand, Tinnitus is mostly caused by an underlying issue. What could it be? Could MRI reveal anything?

Extra information: the knocking isn't synchronized with my heartbeat. It's synchronized with the sound that I hear. For example: if I'm talking to a person, I hear and feel the knocking. Once that person stops talking, the knocking disappears. The beep, however, is always there.

Best regards,
Tanay

Detailed Answer:
Hii. Welcome to the healthcare services. It seems that you are having eustachian tune dysfunction due to allergic inflammation like allergic rhinitis. Eustachian tube connects ear with nose and helps in maintaining the pressure between the two. If it gets congested and becomes patulous then it may produce sound with swallowing. Your hearing test is normal. So kindly start with solspre saline nasal spray which help in reducing the allergy. Take antiallergic tablet levicetrizine for 2-3 week. Take proper steam inhalation. You can chew bubble gum or blow balloon which will help in proper opening of eustachian tube. MRI won't diagnose it. Follow up after 2-3 week. Relax and lead a stress free life. Don't worry. It's not a major problem. Review of you have any queries.
