Dear Sir, My Girlfriend Was Diagnosed With ADHD When She

My girlfriend was diagnosed with ADHD when she was a child and now she's 24 and wants to get off it completely? Can you advise a method to do this safely and with least withdrawals? Is it just a process of weaning down on the prescriptions weekly and can she take anything to help with the withdrawals?
I was addicted to Xanax many years ago and went to rehab to get completely off, is adderal as dangerous to get off as Xanax? how addictive is Adderall compared with Xanax??
Regards,
George
Lower dosage gradually under supervision of your doctor.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
Stopping Adderall may give her many withdrawal symptoms.
Adderall and Xanax both can give compatible withdrawal effects but taking count of her prolonged period of usage she may need more time to tapper it off .
Adderall is as dangerous as Xanax to take it off but taking count of her prolonged period of usage can be even more dangerous.
She may lower the dosage gradually under the supervision of her doctor for weeks or even months.
Lowering dosage by a quarter for 2-3 week and then lowering a quarter again for 2-3 weeks and monitoring her symptoms may be a scheme of stopping it.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
