Question: Dear Sir
My name is XXXXXXX . I’m 36 years old. This is regarding my seborrheic dermatitis . I have this problem on my face from past 2 years.
I used so many topical creams (Erythego gel, picon 1%lotion, Elidel cream) for this seborrheic dermatitis. I am getting temporary relief only from these medications, but not cured. I don't know what will be side affects with these creams as I am using from past two years... I am also using medicated shampoo for head both for control.

Can you please suggest me, Is there any better treatment for this skin condition? I’m a psoriasis patient too from past 12 years. Right now I’m taking Scapho biological injections and my psoriasis is well in control with this injection. I never had seborrheic dermatitis before, it started from last two years.

Please advise me any good treatment for cure.
Thank you
doctor

Brief Answer:
Capsule itraconazole, topical antifungal steroid cream

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query.
There is no permanent cure for seborrhoic dermatitis.
You have to keep it under control.
I would recommend you to take oral anti fungal like capsule itraconazole ( capsule onitraz ) 100 mg twice daily for 3 weeks along with application of a topical anti fungal steroid combination like beclomethasone and clotrimazole cream ( zydip C cream) twice daily for 2 weeks followed by once daily and gradually tapering it off over few weeks.
Also continue with the medicated shampoo.
These will help in settling your problem to a great extent. These are prescription drugs and should be taken under the supervision of the doctor.
I hope to have answered your query and would be happy to answer any further queries.

Dr Asmeet

Hello

My doctor suggested to use sotret - 10mg tablet for seborrheic daily, but I din't use because of fear of side effects.

Is this tablet safe which you are suggesting to use ? and is this steroid cream ok for use on face ?

Brief Answer:
Capsule and steroid cream are safe to use

Detailed Answer:
Yes the capsule itraconazole I have asked you to take is safe.
The cream is also safe to use but for a short duration.
You can use it twice daily for 2 weeks, then once daily for 10 days and then twice weekly for 2-3 weeks.
This gradual tapering won’t cause any side effects.
They won’t damage your face.
