Question: Dear doctor,
I am a prostate cancer patient, currently taking Lupron Injection treatment and on Active Surveillance. I have a family history of Osteoporosis. My mother and my sister are both diagnosed with Osteoporosis. I am also taking calcium supplement.
Bone and Red Blood Cell are concerned side effects of Lupron, and I need your advice.
My Lupron injection is a 24 months program, and I am taking 7.5mg of Lupron Injection every 28 days. To complete this 24-mointh program, I have 10 more months to go with Lupron Injection. Due to this side effect from Lupron, I like to get off it if I can, maybe with an alternative. Is it a good idea for me to stop Lupron Injection sooner?
Prolia treatment is a potential alternative, but I need to be diagnosed with Osteoporosis. What is the side effects of Prolia?
For me to monitor my bone health, I need to take bone-density exams, which are quite costly. Are there any other way to test on the bone health?
Which specialist I should go to monitor my bone health?
For my blood cell issues, I am being cared by a Hematologist doctor.

Due to the fact that you do not have a diagnosis of osteoporosis, in my opinion you should not switch the existing medication.
A variety of medical specialists treat people with osteoporosis, including internists, family physicians, endocrinologists, rheumatologists, physiatrists, orthopaedists, and geriatricians
Common side effects of Prolia include:
low calcium levels (especially if you have kidney problems),
weakness,constipation,back pain,muscle pain,pain in your arms and legs,anemia etc
