Question: Hi, I have after moving from Norway to Northern XXXXXXX developed a serious case of eczema. The biggest issue is around my eyes and face in general. In addition I halso have many spots around on my body that is very itchy and red.
I have used all the creams that I can find and also received creams and oil (oilatum) from my doctor, but nothing really seems to help. I have also gotten a lot of wrinkles around my eyes and face because of the dry and itchy/swallen skin. I have not been using make-up at all the last 3-4 months, and I am really starting to feel depressed about my skin. I have always had a very healthy and glowing skin, except from a short time-frame during my childhood that I had atopic eczema. I have to find something that I ca do to get better, If it is a special diet, traning r cream, I am up for anything!

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this extensive eczema and all the inconveniences it has caused you.

From the information you have provided, you are clearly an individual who is at high risk of developing allergic reactions as evident by the history of asthma, atopic eczema and allergy to fury animals and pollens.

The sudden onset of this eczema and its extensive nature makes me to think of an allergen that made its way into the general system. The most likely means of entry should have been with food. I will suggest that you look back to when it all started and see whether you tried something you were not too used to or you have adopted a new diet that could have caused and is promoting this.

Seafood allergies are common and can also cause eczema symptoms. Likely culprits are lobster, shrimp, clams, crabs, mussels or oysters. Eliminate seafood from your diet to see if the eczema symptoms disappear. I will like that you start with this because from your location and the vast availability of seafood, this could be the most likely cause. If you eliminate this and no real changes are noted, then you may want to progressively eliminate some more to get to identify the cause.

I think by using a systematic approach like the above we may get to identify the culprit and offer you a long lasting relief. For now, continue with the symptomatic treatment to relief yourself of the discomforts cause while you try to identify the ultimate cause and address it.

I wish you all the best in this process and hope we get a solution sooner than later. please, don't allow yourself to get depressed. This will only make the solution worse and not help us that much towards looking for solutions. i am confident better days lie ahead, let's continue the fight and sure we will win.
