Brief Answer:
acute bacterial infection with possible lymph node enlargement.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query and here is my advise.
* Painful lump on back of neck indicate acute inflammation by bacterial
infection with or without lymph node enlargement.
Ear sound may be referred pain from the lump via nerve compression or
else.
* As mentioned positive MRSA infection recently must be taken care in this
regard.
Kindly provide me further details so that I can answer your query completely.
1. Hospital illness details.
2. Current symptoms of fever, vertigo if any ?
3. List of current medications.
4. History of any systemic illness as diabetes or else ?
5. If possible and no objection, a photo pic of current lump as an attachment
in follow up conversation would help.
Till that time, an analgesic as ibuprofen or paracetamol can give best relief of pain scale beyond 4 of 10.
Awaiting for your response.
Regards.

Brief Answer:
needs immediate antibiotic assistance.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the details.
* Painful neck lump must not be neglected and need urgent physician
assistance to avoid further complications.
* Current drug basket include Gabapentin and progesterone supplement and
hence there is no antibiotic coverage that may help current bacterial
infection.
In MRSA case, many of the antibiotics will not work and it will require specific molecules as Tetracycline or else as per the sensitivity report.
In my opinion, rather than being worried, immediately consult treating physician for the prescription of necessary medications and get cured at earliest.
Wish that the condition resolves fastest way.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
follow up .
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome for follow up.
* The suspicious can be raised for bacterial infection, either MRSA or else
from immune response.
As you know very well, type of infection must be confirmed by lab parameters only.
* The pain intensity is much and I again agree an ER visit.
Thanks.
Take care.
