Developing Slight Runny Nose And Hoarseness. Should I Worry About It?

default
Posted on Fri, 4 Apr 2025
Question: I have low grade fever and slight sore throat for 5 days now. No other symptoms other than that; my sore throat isn't even causing any difficulty swallowing. It just feels painful when I eat or drink something citrusy. Now I'm also developing slight runny nose and hoarseness. Should I worry about it?

Brief Answer:
It can be common cold or viral infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I also want to know how much your fever was and if you have used anti-inflammatory drugs to lower it.

I think you are having any viral infection or common cold which is causing you to have throat soreness, fever, running nose and hoarseness.
If the fever doesn't last more than 5-7 days you should not worry about it.
Also if you don't have cough and symptoms are getting better you should not worry about it.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi, doctor. Thank you for your answer. My fever ranges from 37.5 to 37.9, C and I am taking paracetamol tablet 500 mg- not frequently, though. Juts every 4 to 5 hours during the day (not waking up to take it since I sleep just fine). As for symptoms, I don't feel anything other than slight soreness in my throat (like it's scratched since the day before, I drank a lot of cold, sweet drinks and ate 2 bags of junk foods), and a little nasal discharge. I don't have runny nose or such. Generally, I feel fine. What's bothering my is the fever as it's been 6 days now and it's not disappearing, so I'm wondering if it's normal...

Get checked by doctor.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
I think you should go to doctor to get checked your throat,do a throat swap and a total blood count with formula.
Having a fever for 6 or more days may indicate an infection.
You may need to use antibiotics.
