Diabetic And Has High Blood Pressure, Recently Developed A Painful Acne With Pus Near The Knee Of His Left Leg

Question: Hello,
My father, who is a diabetic and has high blood pressure, recently developed a painful acne with pus near the knee of his left leg. The area around the acne is intensely red, and his leg is swollen. Additionally, he's experiencing a significantly elevated temperature in the lower part of his knee. He also suffers from arthritis in his other leg.
He consulted a dermatologist based on the recommendation of a friend, who is the Chief Medical Officer in a government hospital. The doctor gave him 1. Rabefine DSR, 2. PRU-25, 3. Muclin - 300, 4. Moxilink-C, 5. Onitraz-Forte, 6. Kenz cream and 7. NioGenta-F.
I am deeply concerned about his condition and would appreciate any guidance on the possible problem and the appropriate course of treatment.
Thank You.

Brief Answer:
Cellulitis
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
The lesion looks like folliculitis associated with cellulitis.
It can worsen if the blood sugars are not under control. Do check the blood sugars regularly and see to that the reading is less than 150 at any point of time in a day.
Cellulitis needs a good dose of antibiotics , I would recommend a visit to a General surgeon or a podiatrist for a better management.
Sometimes these conditions can end up hospitalising the patient needing intravenous antibiotics.
Also, restrict mobilization to the maximum and keep the affected leg in elevated position.
Regards.

Thank you sir for your kind suggestions. Based on the current condition of my father I have some following queries.
Q1. Can you please explain the reasons behind the elevated temperature, the redness around the infected area, and the swelling in my father's leg?
Q2. I have provided details about the medications my father is currently taking in my previous message. Additionally, I have attached the doctor's prescription. Could you please verify if these medications are appropriate for his condition and if they will contribute to his recovery? In case his sugar levels are elevated, do these medicines suffice for a smooth recovery, or do we need to consider changing or adding medications? If yes, can you suggest which medicine should be changed or added for his smooth recovery?
Q3. My father needs to return to our hometown, which is approximately 280 kilometers away from his current location, to undergo treatment. He will have to drive a car for the journey. Is it advisable for him to drive in his current health condition?
Thank You.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Sorry for the delay in my response.
1. Cellulitis means inflammation at cellular level. The symptoms like raised temperature, pain and swelling are due to inflammation.
2. I recommend a thorough evaluation of the condition by blood tests like complete blood count, RFT, blood sugars etc.. Which will help the doctor to decide on antibiotics, and adjustment of the Diabetic medications.
3.No,. driving is not advisable. As suggested before ..foot elevation and rest will help.
Hope, I answered your questions.
Please do ask if any doubts.
Regards,
