Posted on Tue, 22 Dec 2015
Question: I am now taking cosudex to lower my PSA, however it is starting to not work after 5 years. I read that osteogen patches may help with lowering my PSA. Would this be true?

Brief Answer:
You need to consult your Urologist to modify treatment .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have Prostate cancer and have been taking Biglutamide and have observed that your PSA levels are raising in spite of treatment .

This is suggestive of what is termed as Hormone resistant Cancer Prostate and needs further evaluation .

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Do you have metastatic cancer or have you done bone scan to rule out metastasis very recently ?
2) have you done Serum Testosterone levels very recently ?

Management of Prostate cancer is very complex exercise and needs frequent monitoring and to modify the treatment as per needs and situations and stage of the disease at that particular time .

You need to consult your Urologist and get your serum testosterone levels done to confirm whether there complete castration or not .(It should be <50 ng)

You may start taking Oestrogen in small doses .or start taking LHRH agonist (Goserelin).

If you have metastatic cancer prostate you may need to take medications as per advice of medical oncologist .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
