Do Hydrocodone-Acetaminophen And Prilosec Cause False Positive Test Results For Methamphetamine?

default
Posted on Fri, 7 Aug 2015
Question: I tested positive for amphetamines on my random drug test. Took the test on a Friday afternoon, earlier that day I had an upper and lower GI procedure done. Got sick the previous Saturday night with stomach pains. Went to the ER Tuesday night. Appointment with GI doctor Thursday. And Friday upper and lower Gi test. Was taking prescription medication Hydrocodone-Acetamiophen; Sucralfate; also Prilosec; Loratadine. Test came back positive for Amphetamines. Was terminated from my job, because they said I was on Meth. Is it possible for the medications I was on to have created a false positive for Meth?

Brief Answer:
none of the aforementioned drugs interferes with the test

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

if you haven't actually used meth then you should try to remember if you also used other drugs besides the aforementioned ones because I've found no report of interference. For example, have you used ranitidine? Ranitidine is a commonly used drug for gastrointestinal issues (it lowers stomach acidity, like prilosec) and may interfere with the urine test.

Kind Regards!
