Question: I had minor foot surgery on September 18th. I had to get a needle removed from my toe. (I have no idea how that happened) any way I am 5 days late now and I was put on sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim as an antibiotic and hydrocodone/acetaminophen for pain. I have stopped taking the medications about a week an half ago as I ran out, can this have an effect on my period. (I am also never late)

Brief Answer:
Yes it may affect your menses.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Thanks for trusting hcm about your health care.
I have gone through your history and understand your concerns.
Yes antibiotics, pain killer, minor surgery and stress may affect menses.
So it may affect your menses.
If someone is sexually active and missed her period by 7 days she has to go for a home urine pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy( as a rule).
Hope found useful, feel free to discuss more information.
Good luck.
