Do Welchol And Repatha Lead To Hair Loss?
Could either of these cause this? I am really freaking out.
sure Welchol can lead to hair fall.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, welcome to HCM, Repatha (Evolocumeb) is used to lower bad cholesterol called LDL. It can cause allergic reactions but since it is a newer drug, other side effects have not been reported.
Welchol contains Colesevelam which also lowers cholesterol and blood glucose.
It acts on the gut by sequestrating (binding) bile. Liver has to thus make more bile, using up cholesterol from the blood in this process. Therefore cholesterol gets lowered.
Because it sequestrates bile, it interferes with absorption of vitamins A, D, E, and K. All these vitamins are required for healthy hair and skin. So sure Welchol can lead to hair fall.
Make sure you supplement vitamins A, D, E, and K.
