So if a pregnancy test is repeated at 20 weeks into the pregnsncy, will that still remain positive ? I am aware that most sensitive pregnsncy tests can detect just 25ml/mlu of the hcg hormone and the hcg levels at around 20 weeks are around 2000+ Mlu. So would it be correct that a pregnancy repeated at any Time in the pregnancy at 4,5,6,7,8,9 months will always create a pregnant result in the test ? Thankyou
Brief Answer:
correct
Detailed Answer:
That is correct. A pregnancy test will be positive any time during the pregnancy and even after delivery. Then slowly the levels will fall. The pregnancy test measures the levels of hcg hormone which gradually increases with pregnancy till the later months, when it stabilizes.

Thankyou. So finally there wills always be a detectable amount of hcg throughout the whole pregnancy for the test to pick up. The reason I ask is because the other doctor stated that after 16 weeks into the pregnancy, the hcg levels may drop to a level which the test may not pick up if taken around that time even if the woman is pregnant. This slighltly got me confused as pregnancy creates hcg throughout so any amount of hcg produced should be picked up by the test ?
Brief Answer:
happy to help
Detailed Answer:
Certain amount of hcg always remains in the system. After few months, increasing levels stabilize but still remain in the blood.
