Question:

Hi dr.. I just want to ask.. I had an unprotected sex with a guy that hiv status is unknown 3 weeks ago due to my paranoia went to see a dr after 2 days to prescribe me (pep) coz i was really really panicking at that time coz after the contact i had accuired a flu like symtoms Turned out to be a real flu. im still taking the meds till now now last thursday i met the same guy And ask him about his status he said that hes clean And healthy but of course i wouldnt simply believe what ever he will say .
We had sex again last thursday but this time we used condom Is there a possible chance that i might have accuired a virus or anything again from him if ever hes infected even we used a condom?
the next day o after the
Intercourse im having a headache and slight fever still feeling it abit now so now im freaking out again Coz wether i got something from him again i should have learned my lesson i know coz im already suffering from the last time since im taking pep..

Brief Answer:
Earlier flu like syndrome is unlikely due to HIV

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.

Easiest manifestation of HIV can occur only 3-4 weeks after the infection and not earlier than this. Any illnesses before this period can not be attributed to HIV. So the flu like syndrome you got after your first encounter could not be due to HIV
Second time you had a protective intercourse.
If your partner is quite reliable, you are safe. It is better to rule out HIV/STD with appropriate tests After 12 weeks.
