Do High CK Levels Require Medical Attention?

Question: My son is in hospital with rhabdo. ER doctors and hospital doctors have him on IV fluids and said he could not be released til CK was reduced... all tests so far did not fall into range on blood work, meaning his levels are higher than 14000. HIs regular doctor came in tonight and wanted to release him... although levels have not reduced to lower than 14000 to be on lab range. He said kidney tests look good so he can go home. This was first time he had seen my son since hospitalization friday (today is monday) He will be released in the morning per this doctor (because I refused relese tonight) My son is 20. had exercised for 30 minutes pretty had on friday. Heart rate is low (got down to 47 today) Should I just do with doctor plan to release or ?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
After going through the medical details provided by you I can very well understand your concern for your son's health and I would like to tell you that the two important aspects in rhabdo patients are a correction of fluid and electrolyte imbalances and to prevent or treat acute kidney injury.
CK levels remain raised in these patients also hard exercise increases these levels.
As they have already taken care of fluid balance as well as there is no harm to kidneys I think you can go with your doctors advise of discharge from the hospital.
Hope I have answered your query.
Take care
