Brief Answer:
RA is normally gradual

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune condition where the body is essentially fighting against itself.

It does not occur suddenly but it is possible that the symptoms would develop gradually. In many , fever, malaise (feeling bad and unwell), weakness and joint discomfort are the first symptoms.

The hallmark feature of RA is pain in the hands and feet. Hips are not typical. If however, you are noticing a lot of symptoms in the hands and feet then RA would definitely need to be considered

Arthritis is inflammation of the joints and your symptoms indicate that you may have arthritis but there a lot of causes and types.
Osteoarthritis, rheumatoid, lupus and other auto immune causes, infection, gout- these are only a few.

To find out your cause, you would need to be assessed by your doctor. Physical examination, blood tests and imaging would be needed.
RA is diagnosed with all of these.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
